Hi there, I am Sofia
Project manager. Parent. An expatriate residing in Florence, Italy.
Several years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Italy wasn't in the plans we had for the future. Like many international relocations, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Simple Trail Ways
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Italy.
